Report: April 2000

I have put together some April 2000 Florida bass fishing reports of Florida bass that were caught while shiner fishing on Lake Okeechobee by anglers from across the United States. Our Florida bass fishing reports are also cataloged under each month they were caught during the 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999 and 1998 calendar years. A fishing report on amount of bass caught, area caught on Lake Okeechobee and other information is listed with each Florida bass fishing report. To ensure validity the angler's name, address and e-mail address is also listed with every fishing report.

Florida Bass Fishing - April 29 - May 1, 2000 Fishing Report

Mike Ashcraft Jr., his dad Mike Sr. (Waterford, MI - e-mail: ashcraftmi@plunkettlaw.com) and 2 other fishermen in 2 guide boats caught about 80 Florida bass between them up to 6 1/4 lbs during 3 days (Apr. 29, 30, May 1, 2000) of shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. They fished the North Shore, Moonshine and Monkey Box areas of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.

Florida Bass Fishing - April 29 & 30, 2000 Fishing Report

Gary and Bonnie Keen (Moon Twp., PA - e-mail: bonnie@city-net.com) caught about 12 bass up to 3 lbs during 2 half days (Apr. 29 & 30, 2000) of shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. They fished the North Shore, Moonshine and Monkey Box areas of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.

Florida Bass Fishing - April 28 - 30, 2000 Fishing Report

A group of 3 Florida bass fishing anglers Mark Carroll, Jay Guswiler and Dave Lay (Middlebury, FL - e-mail: camaro94@bellsouth.net) caught about 100 bass up to 6 lbs during 3 days (Apr. 28 - 30, 2000) of shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. They fished the North Shore, Moonshine and Monkey Box areas of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.

Florida Bass Fishing - April 28 & 29, 2000 Fishing Report

Brian Stucky (Reston, VA - e-mail: bstucky@cais.com) and Gordon Stucky (Springfield, MO - e-mail: stucky@dialnet.net) caught 12 bass up to 3 lbs during 2 half days (Apr. 28 & 29, 2000) of shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. They fished the North Shore, Moonshine and Monkey Box areas of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.

Florida Bass Fishing - April 24 - 28, 2000 Fishing Report

Rick Olcott (Perry, FL - e-mail: ricko@perry.gulfnet.com) caught 81 bass that included a 9 lb'er and 6 1/2 lb'er during 5 days (Apr. 24 - 28, 2000) of shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. They fished the North Shore, Moonshine and Monkey Box areas of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.

Florida Bass Fishing - April 24 - 28, 2000 Fishing Report

Ron Kinsey (Perry, FL - e-mail: rkinsey@perry.gulfnet.com) caught 66 bass up to 5 lbs during 5 days (Apr. 24 - 28, 2000) of shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. They fished the North Shore, Moonshine and Monkey Box areas of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.

Florida Bass Fishing - April 23 - 25, 2000 Fishing Report

Florida trophy bass fishing father and son team John Sr. and Jr. Skimelis (Shrewsbury, NJ - e-mail: Bass7015@aol.com) caught 78 bass that included one 7 1/2, two 7's, one 6 1/2 and two 6 lb'ers during 3 days (April 23 - 25, 2000) of shiner fishing with Captain Ron. John Sr. caught one 6 lb'er. His son John Jr. caught all of the other trophy size bass as well as 75 of the 78 bass landed on this trip. This was their fifth trip to Lake Okeechobee in six years with Cap'n Ron. They in fact set a three day record with Ron's Guide Service by landing six bass from 6 - 7 1/2 lbs in three days! All bass that were landed were released except the 7 1/2 lb'er that was kept for mounting. All bass were caught in the Fisheating Creek area of Lake Okeechobee.

Florida Bass Fishing - April 20 & 21, 2000 Fishing Report

Randall Jones and his son Logan (Gillespie, IL - e-mail: randyj@ctnet.net) caught 38 bass up to 6 1/4 lbs during 2 half days (Apr. 20 & 21, 2000) of shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. Logan caught the 6 1/4 lb'er and most of the 38 bass put in the boat. They fished the North Shore and Monkey Box areas of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.

Florida Bass Fishing - April 18 & 19, 2000 Fishing Report

Florida bass fisherman Tom Hennessy (Bradenton, FL - e-mail: henne1@gte.net) and his dad Tom Sr. (Bellmore, NY) caught about 15 bass up to 3 lbs during 2 half days (Apr. 18 & 19, 2000) of shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. Bass were caught on the North Shore and Monkey Box areas of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.

Florida bass fisherman Charles Cansdale (Cape Coral, FL - ph: 941-772-0213) caught 15 bass up to 9 lbs during 2 half days (Apr. 17 & 18, 2000) of shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. Bass were caught on the North Shore and Monkey Box areas of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.

Florida Bass Fishing - April 16 - 18, 2000 Fishing Report

Florida trophy bass fishing couple Mark and Lisa Sharp (Skiatook, OK - ph: 918-396-7515) caught 50 bass that included a 6 3/4 lb, 6 1/4 lb and a 6 lb'er during 3 days (Apr. 16 - 18, 2000) of shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. Lisa caught the 6 3/4 lb and 6 1/2 lb bass. Mark got the 6 1/4 lb'er. Bass were caught on the North Shore and Monkey Box areas of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.

Terry Sutherland (Gainsville, FL - ph: 352-377-1140) caught about 30 bass up to 5 lbs during 2 half days (Apr. 15 & 16, 2000) of shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. They fished the Monkey Box area of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.

Trophy Florida bass fisherman Troy Daugherty (Oviedo, FL - ph: 407-977-5423) caught about 10 bass up to 7 lbs during one day (Apr. 13, 2000) of shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. They fished the Monkey Box and North Shore areas of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.

Gene Rossi and sons Gene Jr. and John (Drums, PA - e-mail: frank@intergrafix.net) caught 44 bass during 3 days (April 10 - 12, 2000) of shiner fishing with Captain Ron. Gene caught and released a 6 3/4 lb'er. His son John caught and released a 6 lb'er. Bass were caught in the Fisheating Creek area of Lake Okeechobee.

Bass fisherman Carl Crossland (Mingo, OH - ph: 740-535-1274) caught 51 bass up to 5 lbs during 3 days (April 6 - 8, 2000) of shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. Gene caught and released a 6 3/4 lb'er. His son John caught and released a 6 lb'er. Bass were caught in the Fisheating Creek area of Lake Okeechobee.

Howard Rush and 10 year-old son John (Ocean Springs, MS - e-mail: rushfam@bellsouth.net) caught 21 bass up to 6 1/2 lbs during 2 half days (Apr. 2 & 3, 2000) of Florida wild shiner fishing for trophy bass with Ron's Guide Service. John caught the 6 1/2 lb'er and most of the 21 fish he and his dad landed. Bass were caught in the Moonshine and Monkey Box areas of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.
