December 2001
Florida bass fishing reports for
each month of the 2001, 2000, 1999 and 1998 calendar years that
describe the amount and size of bass caught, the Florida shiner
and artificial lure fishing techniques used by guides to catch
them, the areas of Lake Okeechobee that produced the best bass
fishing action, and other bass fishing information is contained
in our Florida bass fishing reports. To ensure validity the angler's
name, address, city,
state, phone number, e-mail
address, date and
year the party fished is also included in every fishing report.
Lake
Okeechobee is almost 15 feet above sea level. Tons of vegatation
on the lake has made finding the fish difficult now than ever
before. Baitfish are just about everywhere in this dense grass.
Crappie fishing has been excellent. Trophy bass fishing should
be getting better due to the spawn that should occur this month.
Heavy wind conditions and cold fronts have slowed down the fishing
lately.

30 & 31, 2001
Florida
shiner bass fishing anglers Jeff and Pattee Bender and their son
(Kentwood, MI - e-mail: pbender@uniformcolor.com) caught and released

bass up to 6 lbs,
1 channel catfish and a pickerel during during 2 half days of
wild shiner bass fishing on December 30 & 31, 2001 with Captain
Ron. Jeff caught the 6 lb'er. We fished the North Shore and Monkey
Box areas of Lake Okeechobee.

30 & 31, 2001
Florida
shiner bass fishing anglers Ben and Samantha Belman (Tronto, Ont.
Canada - e-mail: BBelman@sympatico.com) caught 8 bass up to 5
lbs during
during 2 half days of wild shiner bass fishing on December 30
& 31, 2001 with Captain Ron. Samantha had a trophy size bass
on that we got to see twice when it jumped and got off. We fished
the North Shore and Monkey Box areas of Lake Okeechobee. All bass
were released.

21, 2001
Florida
shiner bass fishing anglers John King (Venice, FL) and Mike D'Amico
(Springboro, OH - e-mail:damico62@msn.com) caught only 2 bass
that weighed in at 7
lbs and 7 1/4 lbs during
a morning of wild shiner bass fishing on December 21, 2001 with
Captain Ron. The fishing was poor due to a cold front that hit
Florida. Mike caught both trophy size bass which he released.
We fished the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.

13 & 14, 2001
Florida
shiner bass fishing anglers Jason Bayes (Lakeland, FL - e-mail:
bayes1@mindspring.com) and father-in-law Joe Quattrocki (Clearwater,
FL) caught 2 catfish, 1 pickeral and 5 bass that included a 6
1/4 lb'er during 2 half days of wild shiner bass fishing on December
13 & 14, 2001 with Captain Ron. Fishing was poor due to cold
front and windy conditions. We fished the North Shore and Monkey
Box areas of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.
